2014 Colmar Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Shows powerful gooseberry/grass aromas and has impressive weight and balance together with racy acidity. ($24.00) Highly Recommended

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this wine were hand-picked in two batches from Block 4 on our Colmar Estate vineyard in the highlands of Orange. The early picked fruit provides the grassiness and the racy acidity; the later picked fruit gives the fruit weight and gooseberry characters. It’s a beautifully balanced wine of great freshness and purity. Perfect for the warmer months ahead.

The mission to make a great rosé

Australia has been crying out for good rosé for years. No wine style seems better suited to our climate and lifestyle yet many of our rosés miss the mark, sickness too often bright purple in colour, sweet and tasting like cordial – just not suited to the dinner table.

Our mission to make a great rosé started with hand-picked premium quality pinot noir grapes from Block 3 at our Colmar Estate vineyard. The fruit quality shines through the first time you take a sniff – the lovely strawberry aroma is typical of the MV6 clone of pinot noir. On the palate that beautiful fruit is complemented with some savoury characters from ageing part of the wine in old barrels; the finish is refreshingly crisp and dry. It’s a delicious wine designed for food.

At last, a great Australian rosé.
